International Day Events

Shillong

International Day of Clean Air for Blue Skies

Celebrating International Day of Clean Air for Blue Skies in collaboration with Meghalaya State Pollution Control Board

  • Mobilized 25 waste sorters from Shillong and raised awareness towards dignity, equality and inclusivity of waste sorters into the society
  • Trained the participants on segregated hands-on cleanup and conversion of soft plastic into Bottlebricks
  • Enrolled the participants in the Plastic for Purpose Campaign

International Dog Day

Collaborating with Shillong Municipal Board

  • Constructed 5 Bottlebricks eco-friendly Sterilization Units for Stray Dogs
  • Donated the Bottlebricks eco-friendly Sterilization Units to God's Creatures Animal Shelter
  • Donated 10 warm clothing for dogs made from recycled fabric
  • Extensive discussion on the issues and solutions towards increasing population of stray dogs in Shillong

International Youth Day

Collaborating with Directorate of School Education and Literacy with students of BSF, Shillong

  • Conducted workshop on AI Awareness & Digital Empowerment for Youth
  • 20 students were given study material for their future guide to ethical AI
  • Students directly trained in AI-assisted academic & career skill-building and portfolio building

World Paper Bag Day

Celebrating World Paper Bag Day, 2025, with students of Shillong Public School, Shillong in collaboration with the Directorate of School Education and Literacy, Meghalaya.

The first day GreenAmmo team members raised awareness on the importance of paper, forest protection, plantation and conducted a workshop on reusing old newspapers by making paper bags and paper bin liners.

The second day, 6 selected students from the school were taken to the nearby Laitumkhrah Market where they raised awareness on using old newspaper bags as opposed to plastic bags for suitable vegetables and groceries.

SUPER Campaign

Shillong

Phase I – Student Engagement at Scale:
  • Statewide inter-school BottleBrick competition with Directorate of School Education & Literacy and My Meghalaya My Pride.
  • Students are encouraged to make BottleBricks at home and in school as part of source waste tapping.
  • Culminated on Children’s Day 2024 with a BottleBrick installation and award ceremony led by the Honorable Governor of Meghalaya.
  • Output: Over 8,000 BottleBricks produced by the students.
Phase II – Practical Infrastructure Use:
  • BottleBricks quality-checked and rectified by local women from Shillong and generated employment by remunerating the bottlebricks.
  • Used 3,000 BottleBricks to construct a model green toilet at Nongpuir Lower Primary School.
  • Inaugurated by Hon. CM Conrad Sangma, senior education officials, and village leaders.
  • Intended as a replicable model for integrating environmental education into practical school infrastructure.

Animal Sterilization Centers

Shillong

Collaboration: Partnership with various animal shelters, animal activists and individuals for Bottlebricks animal houses.

Product Design – Built lightweight, portable animal shelters for dogs, cats, and other animals from BottleBricks and wood.

Carpenter Training – Local carpenters taught how to work with BottleBrick structures.

Dual Benefit – Addresses animal welfare while converting plastic waste into durable, reusable assets.

Mutong Plastic Festival and Museum

East Jaintia Hills

High-Volume Waste Conversion in Record Time –
In Mutong (East Jaintia Hills), along with Gram Panchayat, the NGO Grassroot, Shillong, and Swatch Bharat Abhiyan, organised daily awareness workshops, clean ups and bottlebricks training to locals culminating in a 3-Plastic Festival where over 5000+ BottleBricks (of 1l or equivalent) were produced in just two weeks.

Long-Term Eco-Tourism Asset Development –
Construction of a Bottlebrick Eco-Museum, showcasing the success of the Plastic Festival, local heritage and sustainability innovations leading to eco-tourism.

Eco-furniture and Decor

Vintage Hub NEHU, Shillong

Urban Awareness & Market Showcasing – At NEHU’s Vintage Hub restaurant in Shillong, presented a display of eco-products, including tire-based furniture, BottleBricks, and jute goods, promoting sustainable consumer choices.

Ngunraw Project

West Khasi Hills

Pandemic Resilience Through Environmental Action – In Ngunraw (South West Khasi Hills), trained local youth online to organise Saturday clean-ups and run a ₹8-per-BottleBrick scheme, using the proceeds to fund a community Eco-Library for children and youth.

Winter Tales Festival Collaboration

Shillong

  • Festival Waste Management – Partnered with M/s Dakti to manage all waste for the 3-day Christmas-time Winter Tales Festival (2021 and 2022).
  • Eco-Awareness Programming – Conducted workshops on organising eco-friendly community festivals.
  • Public Art & Upcycling – Installed BottleBrick-based and upcycled-material sculptures, recycled clothing etc annually to showcase circular economy principles.
  • Skills Development – Delivered waste management, segregation, and BottleBrick-making lessons to visitors of the Festival.
  • Women’s Enterprise – Trained Adivasi women to produce cushions from waste fabric and cleaned/disinfected soft plastic, later used in Dak_Ti’s bamboo cushion covers.
