Project Milestones

West Bengal

From community initiatives in Darjeeling to urban projects in Kolkata and protecting biodiversity in Sandakphu.

Government led community involvement initiative

Bijanbari, Darjeeling

Inspired the BDO of Bijanbari, Mr. Kaushik Banerjee, to launch public competition among the Self Help Group members rewarding the highest BottleBrick contributors, integrating environmental action into local governance.

The BottleBricks were used to construct essential community assets including a model wall, a playroom for Anganwadi Children and a secure fencing for the BDO office compound—demonstrating functional scalability of waste-derived construction.

Menstrual Health and Sustainability Convergence

Rimbick, Darjeeling

Facilitated the transition of more than 400 rural women from disposable sanitary pads to reusable menstrual cups, in collaboration with SHG leader Anjala Rai.

This shift reduced non-biodegradable waste and improved long-term women’s health, creating a replicable green menstrual model.

Urban demonstration projects

Kolkata

  • Park Infrastructure Upgrade – Built a BottleBrick bench at Subhash Sarovar Park in partnership with the Inner Wheel Club of Kolkata New Gen which included training on segregated cleanup, making bottlebricks and construction of benches using bottlebricks.
  • Capacity Building – Provided hands-on training to members of Inner Wheel Club of Kolkata New Gen to construct school furniture from bottlebricks which was donated. We built 4 stools and 1 table using BottleBricks and reused plyboards.
  • Quality Control – Supplied pre-verified BottleBricks from GreenAmmo’s network to ensure structural strength and durability.

Waste plastic free Sepi

Darjeeling

  • School Curriculum Integration – BottleBrick-making incorporated into 5 major schools from Rimbick to Sepi. The students receive internal marks for participation. This ensures early adoption of waste segregation and recycling habits.
  • Women’s SHG Engagement – 20+ Self-Help Group members are paid for BottleBrick production. They conduct regular segregated clean-ups in their communities.
  • Infrastructure Impact – 200 BottleBricks used to build a divider wall at Lippohoccha Homestay, Sepi, demonstrating small-scale local application.

India Hikes Collaboration

Sepi Base Camp

GreenAmmo has collaborated with India Hikes to convert all the soft plastic waste collected in the Sandakphu trail into Bottlebricks and utilise them for infrastructure development of the area.

In less than a year more than 900 bottlebricks have been made showcasing the positive step towards waste plastic free Sepi and protecting the biodiversity of the Himalayan Black Forest region of Sandakphu.
